Last week the gaming industry held their 5th annual mobile gaming summit in London and according to the consensus around this summit,
bingo and other gaming activities are set to rise significantly in 2009 on hand held devices like mobile phones. This forecast however has been made before and the actual numbers ended up being nowhere near what was predicted. Mfuse is once such mobile gaming software provider looking to get a bigger foot hole in the UK gaming markets next year.
Online bingo sites such as Mecca Bingo have been offering their members the option to
play bingo on their mobile phone for some time as well as other casino style games, through simply downloading their software onto their phone through a text link message and they can even access these games through their existing Mecca Bingo account.
Charles Palmer, who is the co founder of “Mfuse” said, "In the past year our clients have taken more than 100 million pounds in bets through mobile devices, which suggests the market is developing very quickly." It is thought that this prediction for an increase in
online bingo and casino gaming from hand held devices will come as new generations come of age, i.e. turn 18, as they are more likely to use them to play games on, the thinking behind this is that they will be more savy and up to date with how these kind of devices work.
They are also predicting that this latest development will change the way the gaming industry is run today, but that will remain to be seen. With the economic downturn in America, their casinos have reported that their income is 4.6% down, from levels this time last year and it is thought that smaller casinos in America will not survive this industry slump in their country.
Playing bingo on TV was meant to be the next big gaming thing in the UK, but to date it has still not been nowhere near as popular as online bingo seems to have been, in fact only a few weeks ago Bingo Night Live went of air after they failed to make their TV show work for the purpose that it was intended mainly to
play live bingo games.
Gala Bingo on the other hand seem to have ticked all the right boxes with their live interactive bingo TV broadcasting as their online bingo players can purchase their bingo tickets online as well as through their TV’s. Online
bingo sites has been a phenomenon and it is still growing despite our economic state, unfortunately the same cannot be said for other sectors of the gaming industry and as to whether mobile gaming is going to take of as predicted, it really is a wait and see game.
